We appreciate your dedication to making a difference in our community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the details regarding the process, selection, and interview for recruiting new board members:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before applying, please review the qualifications and expectations for board members as outlined below, and familiarize yourself with TOHA&rsquo;s mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><em>Prepare your application:<\/em> submit your application that includes your contact information, resume\/CV and\/or link to LinkedIn, and an expression of interest highlighting your relevant experience, skills, and why you are interested in joining the TOHA Board.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Submitting your application<\/em>: Send your application via email to<strong> info@tohauxiliary.ca<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Selection Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><em>Application review:<\/em> A selection committee comprised of current TOHA Board members will review all submitted applications. They will assess qualifications, experience, skills, and alignment with TOHA&rsquo;s mission and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Shortlisting<\/em>: Based on the application review, a shortlist of candidates will be created. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for the next stage of the selection process, which is an interview.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Interview Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li><em>Interview invitation<\/em>: Shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation for an interview via email or phone. The invitation will provide details regarding the interview date, time, location (in-person or virtual), and any additional instructions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Interview format:<\/em> The interview will be conducted by the selection committee and will typically consist of a panel format. The purpose of the interview is to assess the candidate&rsquo;s suitability for the TOHA Board, their alignment with TOHA&rsquo;s values, and their ability to contribute effectively to the organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Interview questions:<\/em> The interview questions will cover a range of topics, including your relevant experience, skills, understanding of TOHA&rsquo;s mission, commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and your vision for the organization. Prepare examples and anecdotes that highlight your capabilities and experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Selection and notification<\/em>: Following the interview process, the selection committee will deliberate and make their final decision. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We look forward to reviewing your application and potentially welcoming you as a valuable member of the Board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should you have any further questions, please feel free to email us at <strong>info@tohauxiliary.ca<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thank you for your interest in volunteering with TOHA!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-color has-text-color\"><strong>About TOHA\u2019s Board of Directors<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TOHA\u2019s board role<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establish the mission, goals and policies of the organization,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Develop a long-range plan for the organization; define strategy and a time frame for achievement of goals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the long-term financial stability and strength of the organization, develop and maintain sources of income to provide for the continuing operation of the organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ensure the long-term organizational stability and strength of the organization, bring into the organization individuals with the necessary abilities to lead and manage the organization in the future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise high level oversight of the hired staff and the operations, approve annual budgets, review operating and financial results, audit for compliance with internal policies and external requirements, review performance against goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The responsibilities of the board are to:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be committed to the mission, goals and policies of the organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perform the functions and work of the board to the best of one\u2019s ability.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recommend others who could serve on the board or be of value to the organization in other capacities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid any conflicts of interest and situations that would compromise the principles of the organization or lead to the perception of compromise.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be knowledgeable about the organization, the services it provides and the local community in which it operates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Board member \/Director responsibilities<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TOHA\u2019s directors govern the organization through active oversight of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mission development and long-range planning for achieving the vision.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Program development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resource development<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Financial management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Staff education and development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each board member must express and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of TOHA and be fully committed to the vision and service of TOHA. Board members must be willing to give time and resources (skills and experience) in providing leadership to TOHA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Specifically, individual board member responsibilities include the following.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Provide continuing directions for planning, operation and evaluation of TOHA programs and activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attend all board meetings (including committee meetings, if applicable) and functions such as special events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain informed about the organization\u2019s mission, services, policies, and programs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Suggest possible nominees to the board who will make significant contributions to TOHA.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Review, evaluate and approve the organization\u2019s financial affairs and policies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Time commitment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Approximately 2-4 hours per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: <br><br>Although we currently have a governance board, there may be times when board members are asked to help with events, programs, or ad hoc requests based on their time availability or area of expertise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We\u2019re currently looking at recruiting to fill a Corporate Secretary position as well as few other director roles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-blue-color has-text-color\">Our Commitment <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TOHA is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion and we encourage applications from candidates who reflect the diversity of the individuals and the community we serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Equity and diversity are essential to excellence.
